Constructive Meeting of the Innovation Group “Workflows and Systems Integration”

The cluster4future nanodiag BW is engaged in three projects, each with a distinct technological focus. To promote cross-project collaboration, we have established Innovation Groups where experts from related fields come together to address shared, cross-cutting topics and drive innovation collectively. In early November, members from nine nanodiag BW partners gathered in Stuttgart for the Innovation Group on “Workflows and Systems Integration.” Special thanks to the team at Steinbeis Europa Zentrum for their hospitality!

Gerhard Mittler from the MPI for Epigenetics in Freiburg and Tobias Pirzer from Nanotemper provided exciting and detailed insights into their workflows for protein characterisation, presenting techniques such as advanced mass spectrometry, NanoDSF (a modified method of differential scanning fluorimetry), and light scattering experiments.

These two introductory talks sparked a lively discussion on new applications for our nanopore technology and our customers’ requirements. We explored topics such as scalability, interoperability, add-on devices, and key factors like sample volume, concentration, and purity.

With enthusiasm and energy, we are working in innovative solutions!

Special thanks to Michael George from Nanion for skillfully leading the meeting and expertly guiding us toward defining a minimum viable product.
