The re:publica 2026 in Berlin revolved around exchange, new ideas and the question of how to shape the future.
Together with the other Clusters4Future and Science Campi, nanodiag BW presented itself within the “Innovationsmaschinenraum Deutschland” initiative, right at the heart of discussions on digitalisation, democracy, science and societal transformation.
Amid international tech companies, civil society initiatives and political stakeholders, it became clear how important application-oriented research is for Germany as an innovation hub. The clusters and campi funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR) demonstrated impressively how scientific excellence can be translated into concrete applications, technologies and new business models.
A particular highlight was the joint stage appearance of the innovation clusters. In front of a large audience, nanodiag BW cluster manager Hanna Hasselblatt succeeded in explaining within just one minute what nanodiag BW stands for: translating technological advances into targeted applications and developing new diagnostic tools.
The importance of personal interaction for innovation also became evident at the booth. Interactive formats such as the popular nanodiag cornhole game and a connected marble run sparked numerous conversations with visitors of all ages and professional backgrounds. Many participants contributed their own perspectives, questions and ideas – exactly the kind of open exchange that defines the unique atmosphere of re:publica.
Alongside the discussions with visitors, the intensive networking with other Clusters4Future and initiatives was especially inspiring. The atmosphere was characterised by openness, mutual support and a shared vision for the future. Once again, re:publica demonstrated how valuable spaces are in which science, business, politics and society come together to exchange ideas and collaboratively shape the futur.
