The latest instalment of the Cluster Stories series by nanodiag BW focuses on trenzyme GmbH, a key partner in the innovation network.
Based in Konstanz, the company provides vital molecular components for the diagnostics of the future – and offers a behind-the-scenes look into its work in this new video feature.
trenzyme specialises in the production of customised proteins and cell lines for pharmaceutical applications. These form an essential part of the nanopore-based diagnostic technologies being developed within nanodiag BW – technologies aimed at enabling earlier and more precise detection of diseases like cancer. In the video, founder Dr Reinhold Horlacher and department head Alexander Brose explain what molecular precision means in everyday laboratory work – and why trenzyme doesn’t do “off the shelf”.

A standout feature of this episode is its production process: it was developed in close cooperation with the DHBW Ravensburg. As part of a media project, students from the Communication Management programme took full responsibility for the video production – from concept to filming and editing – supported by the nanodiag BW communications team.

This collaboration proved beneficial not only as a practical learning experience, but also as a high-quality outcome for all parties involved:
“Initially, we were simply happy to give the DHBW students the opportunity to produce two films under real conditions in a corporate environment. But the results turned out to be so professional that we’ll be using both films actively in our marketing. Both the cluster and trenzyme have clearly benefited from this successful cooperation."
Dr. Reinhold Horlacher, CEO trenzyme GmbH
In addition to the Cluster Story, the student team also produced a corporate film for trenzyme and another for Eurofins Genomics GmbH – another key partner in the nanodiag BW network.
