Patient representative Hans-Günter Meyer at nanodiag BW colloquium
The connection between everyday experience and science was at the heart of the recent nanodiag BW colloquium. We were pleased to welcome Hans-Günter Meyer, patient representative and long-time supporter of our cluster. In his talk titled “The Potential of Epigenetics for a Healthy and Happy Life – My Personal Experience as a Tumour, Hypertension and Cancer Patient”, the 81-year-old shared valuable insights from his journey through illness and recovery.
His visit powerfully illustrated how patient perspectives can guide and strengthen the relevance of biomedical research – especially in the field of epigenetics, a central focus of nanodiag BW. The lively discussion that followed highlighted how environmental factors such as diet and lifestyle closely interact with genetic modifications. One memorable piece of advice Mr Meyer offered: Eat more broccoli!

With his authentic presence and well-grounded knowledge, Mr Meyer provided valuable impulses – both for our research and for the question of how scientific findings can meaningfully improve patients’ everyday lives.
We sincerely thank Hans-Günter Meyer for his inspiring contribution and look forward to continued collaboration.
